I'm really surprised no one here has mentioned it....

I was one of those who saw them vanish before my eyes, which sucked for me because I use a Tabs replacement, so I had no tabs.

It was a timed event, turning the clock back 1 day, restores the extensions.

In irc.mozilla.org #firefox, they are bashing dissenter and the 'alt-right'.

You see where I'm going with this?

Plenty of browsers to pick from.

I wasn't interested in dissenter but seeing firefox do some fuckery after I had some plugin errors "they deleted them from my computer without informing me" today. I'm looking at alternatives that specifically support dissenter.

I've been curious about brave, it's still mozilla.

I'm using nightly now, and it lets me use unsupported extensions.

I disabled updates on my firefox to preserve my good XUL extensions version. What exactly went on with dissenter besides the general removal, and what other extensions got fucked?

(Almost) All extensions auto-disabled while using firefox at precisely 6pm AZ Time.

Dissenter just happened to be among them.

Also adblocker and Adobe Acrobat(PDFs).

I got banned from the mozilla irc server during the 'fallout'.

Lots of folks showed up, they locked down the channel and put in a redirect when we started talking about dissenter and they started calling folks 'alt-right'. I may have made a few inflammatory remarks amidst the shuffle.

For stuff where I still use Firefox I stuck with version 56 with the old XUL extensions. Properly working privacy and security addons do more to protect my pc than any of Mozillas efforts to combat malicious extensions while fucking everything else up.
