I disagree, I think he did a service but he also conspired to violate us law. The larger point that we are missing is that his leaks revealed that no Americans of any political leanings cared in the least when he released the videos of shitskins getting vaporized along with their families.

I believe he did do a service by revealing conspiracies the government committed account it's own people, but he also released a lot of other shit that put people's lives in immediate danger.

There's always another bunch of leaks that he claims he hasn't released yet. And just because some pissed off employee downloads the shared drive doesn't mean the files need to be posted.

That said, Assange isn't a US citizen. He didn't hack into any government database. He's done a lot less than actual Russian of Chinese hackers that go unpunished. He simply published information that he (as a non-citizen) had no duty to keep secret.

Can he be a bit of an asshat? Sure. Should he be prosecuted for embarrassing a country to which he is not a resident, or citizen, nor owes any oath of allegiance?
