Only dumb people have "smart" homes

Smells_Like_Tacos

My money is on some cuck for it him self and blamed a hacker when he had his spat with his insigother.

3dk

I hope he played them some moon man...

jqueso

What's that one song, "It's gettin hot in here"? Just play that part, on repeat, indefinitely.

beefartist

So hot!

There are smart sinks and toilets now. They send your usage details directly to amazon cloud. Can't wait til someone hacks your tap and leaves it on for your entire vacation. Or they start shit talking you when you are trying to have a sit down.

BoraxTheFungarian

Smart homes for dumb people!

andrew_jackson

I'm not into hacking...but if I did hack some neoliberal's house, you're darn right I would screw with the control system.

Of course, the last sentence is about the horror of not having a government agency regulate these smart devices and their passwords.

Yeah, that's exactly what we need, another government bureaucrat rescuing idiots from themselves because they're too dumb to setup passwords and follow simple security measures.

Maroonsaint

I wish you would hack my phone and watch me take a shower

Nosferatjew

a disembodied voice began to talk to her husband through the camera in the kitchen

Why tf is there a camera in their kitchen?

dickbutt

A few newer refrigerators come with a tablet baked into the door that will access all the social media apps and let you draw digital notes. Also, at least 1 had a camera inside so you can see what's in your fridge in real time from your phone.

Not my idea of luxury, but if there's demand, the market supplies.

YoHomie

In case a nigger breaks in an makes a sandwich.

Planetoftheclown

Because it offers safety and security.

toobaditworks

Because their fucking morons. Why would anyone put their thermostat online?

TheVOATangel

How smart is that!

Texaswolf1

Who could have foreseen this? S/

Planetoftheclown

Watch for the complete shock and surprise when hackers start burning down houses by turning on people's smart irons, smart dryers, smart heaters, smart stoves, smart ovens, smart microwaves. Wait for the time when a hacker gets access to the hardware and came make it do things that it was never programmed to do. Then you're going to see shit like awning motors burn themselves out by drawing more current than they were designed, catching fire and burning down places.

beefartist

This is pretty insightful. I remember hearing about some of the earliest computer "viruses" that sent hard drives past physical limits, ruining them.

jqueso

The future is bright!

the_art_collector

A device being accessible over the internet should be something a user has to set up themselves with a router, not the default.

andrew_jackson

Have you met these people, though?

the_art_collector

Exactly. Most people won't be smart/curious enough to create an unnecessary security risk for themselves.

AshesAshes

Epic. Serves them right.
