There are many types of symbiosis and many different strains among the various classes. Communism is the most virulent and destructive form in the social environment. The West currently has a form known as mutualism or mutually beneficial parasitism. If the parasite were immediately destroyed the benefits it provides would also be destroyed, leaving the host vulnerable. Trump must ensure those vulnerabilities have redundant systems in place before he could attempt a purge. Likewise, if the parasite were simply to abandon the host before it fully replicated or had a new suitable host, then it would be destroyed.
