idiots buy things like smart tvs or them home control systems like google home. Fuck even my 'IT woke' brother in law has a set up that uses all of them in some part of the house.

Fuck forget the built in surveillance shit, a decent smart TV costs fucking thousands more than a bog standard large size tv screen that all have multiple HDMI inputs on them... So between my NUC and my 55inch 'dumb' flatscreen, ive got a home built smart TV that doesnt spy on me does everything that a brand name 'smart' tv does for less than half the price of a decent smart tv, or around the same price as the really fucking annoying cheap shit brands that have you wanting to hurl the remote control at the screen 5 minutes after youve set it up because its sketchy as fuck, or you work out its not actually a smart tv at all but a tv with built in chromecast instead (TCL seems to be doing this)
