Have you noticed that every superhero started with an average human as love interest? I can understand Spider-Man, because he was not born with superpowers. What I can't understand are Superman and Wonder Woman. Both born gods, they struggle with a mortal lover, instead of coupling between them. Luckily in DC, some time later, a smart guy made the special about marriage between Superman and Wonder Woman. I think this has a very deep meaning. Somehow superhero comics were about super humans who were forced to couple with lower humans.

Superman thought he was alone as a God amongst men until late in his run. It's not like there were a ton of options for him other than the workplace proximity crush.

Wonder Woman lived on an island of women only and fell for the first dick she saw.
