COUSCOUS

This is a good production, apart from One obvious problem. The rather obvious Russia / China bashing, The apologizing for any Israeli involvement in this sordid past-time and the almost complete white-washing of any American improprieties except to mention that the U.S. is developing all this cool tech. (so everyone be scared) This production is not quite as neutral as it makes out.

I think at this point, the Rebel Alliance is pretty firmly in the midst of the Empire striking back. There was a great rush to communicate in the early days of the internet. Some very good projects (like the Black Vault) are still around. But we've lost the ... transparency (?) of anonymous forums. (That's pretty well described in this video.) Thankfully, we're aware of it -- and perhaps more importantly, the powers that be were dumb enough to accuse each other of using these tactics. (Presuming that they aren't used by the accusers is hopelessly naive.)

Right now, VOAT is more or less closed. I think there are a handful of scripts running on this site, but nothing outside the range of personally scripted grudge-bots. If/When VOAT reopens/goes beta/etc. I expect this problem will resurface. For the time being, I think we have decent security that we are communicating with real people. (I doubt that real people are the preponderance at either GLP or Reddit. The other place I cruise was ignominiously shut down this week.)

Is there any interest in discussing how to keep this advantage?

I also wonder if there's any interest in curating topics so they're somewhat more accessible? I'm not talking about writing summaries and theorizing, so much as writing bibliographies and mirroring...
