No, but nature has adapted over millions of years to work in some sort of balance. Nature evolves very slowly, essentially allowing for adaptation to occur.

When GMO scientists come along and create new novel DNA, that produce proteins not normally found in nature, they do not give the adaptation part of the natural equation any chance of happening. And it is because of this lack of allowance for adaptation, that their contraptions break havoc in the food chain.
