Whereby under the slogan " Remember the Maine " the US obtained dominion over the Philippines there after to inflict unimaginable horrors on the host population, and annexed Hawaii , Cuba, Guam & Puerto Rico .

I do not think BS, just not as devestating as hoped. Many years ago I worked with a guy who lived in Hamburg during the 1000 bomber raids.

While the city was terribly damaged, industry was not, as it was so dispersed.
