Those are part of their "receipt checking" bullshit. They're trying to be like other "shopping club" type stores. It's all in the name of theft prevention and tracking their customers data.

virtueless

Yeah, they had everyone in a one-person-at-a-time queue at my Costco this week.

SirNiggsalot

Is Costco in UK and Europe

I’m in a small town in the south and they’re here as well. Just recently.

I don't have a link for this but I've heard that Walmart has a contract with FEMA where they can quickly empty the stores (which are basically just giant open warehouses) and re-purpose them to use as emergency shelters... or quarantine holding zones for the infected. Perhaps they're starting to prepare for the virus spreading rapidly and needing to forcibly contain infected people.

DanglingGoatBalls

People used to say that when Walmart closes a store and moves to another location that FEMA takes over the closed store. Have not seen that rumor in a while.

Gringojones

Yes and they are motion activated which doesn't make a lot of sense. I think they did a study and found that they have some psychological effect similar to the greeter they used to pay to say hi to you.

Firinmahlazer

The grocery stores are making sure to funnel people in one door and out of the other. I don't really find it alarming. They need to maintain some kind of control from retards rushing into the store.

There was a store up in yankee territory that was like a food carnival. You couldn't just walk in and walk out, it was laid out in a linear fashion so you had to move forward to go back. Then again, the small town my folks live in has a farmers market with multiple sellers of not just food but trinkets, toys, clothing, furniture, etc. I miss the days where going to the city was an event and everyone treated it as such. It's no wonder why folks hate shopping (unless you are a masochist) these days and why brick and mortar stores are going out of business. I don't know what my original point of this post was so get off of my lawn.

Demonsweat2

It could be a security measure to slow down potential theft, unless you're in a state that doesn't punish those lowlifes that steal.

Diggernicks

What sort of negro infested hell hole do you reside in?

Gringojones

You can really tell which type of area you are in by what is in the locked displays a walmart.

SirNiggsalot

Baby formula and Cocoa butter

Planetoftheclown

This is the middle of suburbia....white neighborhoods. That's why the timing of this is disturbing.

Elcycs

Mine did it before black Friday and never took them down.
