It is a power struggle. What people don't realize is that the prior elections were a fraud, and that there was no real choice. The power structure basically stayed the same because both candidates represented the same structure.

The reason they made contingency plans was because Trump (backed by the military and military intellegence) got the Republican nomination. And now that Trump is in office, they are fighting to remain in power, instead of relinqusing power like everyone assumed the process was working.

So, what we have is a coup by the military by a legitimate election.
