The Freemasons is a scam .. you could not obtain gainful employment in the industrial heartland of the UK never mind your skill set or trade qualifications unless you were a member of a Freemasons Lodge, once you had joined up you had to purchase costly apparel and to pay substantial "taxes" at Lodge gatherings.

Any rank and file members who aspired to the higher levels of Freemasonry were politely put off at first, where after in the face of persistence suppose homicide could be among their options.

When I was about four yrs old my uncle took me down the street in Marleston, South Australia, to pay his capitation fees at the FM Lodge just down the road that had been slated for closure .. when we entered the building he showed me Grandfather's name ascribed on a wooden plaque bearing the names of previous office holders.

The woman present refused to accept his coin and the building was demolished by bulldozer a short time later .. the plaque bearing Grandfather's name identifiable among the shattered marble tiles and broken masonry as splintered wreckage.

The one thing he did which I can fully endorse.
