we ought to take it in turns to mod. no mod can mod more than a certian amount of time

Nixonz00

I think there should be a monthly vote were the most unpopular admin/mod/whatever is removed.. that way their trolling sjw efforts will be focussed on their own survival and less on actual trolling.. sort of hunger game'ish.. no?

The problem is the potential for abuse.

It's common knowledge in all security that human nature is the greatest security flaw. Follow the right procedures.

Why not just have a policy of not banning or censoring subs and not appointing mods. Let any user, as is already the case, start a sub, appoint whatever mods they like and let that sub develop on it's own. No matter what it evolves into, just leave it alone unless illegal content is posted. That way people can choose their communities and everyone can participate in whichever subs reflect their values. That was the original intent of Reddit and the model still works. We don't need to be concerned about coming up with convoluted ways to control what kind of content and discourse each sub has or who moderates it. If it is moderated poorly people will leave it and start their own or join others. It's as simple as free market capitalism.

This. This is exactly why dissenting opinions on reddit are treated to mass downvote brigades by the likes of SRS, JIDF and others. The same could be applied to these voting systems. Why do you think every "democractic" country in this world is as corrupt as it is?

Alternatively, you could just start giving love to some of the smaller subs.

I am just asking the question =)

Why does a sub like Conspiracy even need a mod?

What real purpose do mods serve other than content shaping on a site where users can control the content to look at?

Decius

How will this stop the SJWs? Are they a minority on this site? Whats to stop them from vote manipulating and being 100% certain they can voat in any shill that they want?

gatordontplaythatsht

Obviously the system would need to be created around avoiding that, which is not impossible.

gabeh73

only way I see to avoid it is to keep the voats equal to the number of karma people have built up here.
