The root problem is that a vast portion of the population cannot think past emotion. This leaves this population vulnerable to manipulation and misdirection.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

There is way to much deception to ascertain the full truth of things, but the danger is that to many believe they have the truth.
