Absolutely water is a human right.

cooledcannon

Huh. Not sure exactly what Nestle is doing but water privatisation is awesome because of government/public corruption/incompetence. I mean you do pay for your water bill right?

Fuck_Forgot_Password

If only the private sector was less corrupt.

cooledcannon

Yes it definitely is!

CipherEnigma

I hate the new /s phenomenon but I needed it here

RedHawk

Nestle is one of the companies to boycott whether you're against child slavery or the Israeli regime. They're a dirty and rotten company.

i_like_naps

dangnabbit, i'm good on that list except for the cat chow. my cat is a picky fucker too.

thuglas

Surely Nestle's corporate sovereignty and future profits were more important than mere child slavery. As a shareholder of Nestle I want maximum value through any means necessary including child slavery so what they do to increase shareholder value is totally excusable.

tccl

what else do you expect for a company the went to some of the poorest places in africa.

handed out just enough free baby formula to last long enough for the mothers to stop lactating.

knowing full well that many couldn't possibly afford more and in turn children would starve

but they would get a lot on the hook and that is what matters to them

a truly evil company

Drenki

adsjf;lakhjdsf;lah;glkahjds;fljha;sfhj;alkdfj

Child slavery is illegal here - why would they think it's OK for them to do it somewhere else?

Can we just round these people up?

AssaultMonkey

Yes we can. And yes we should. Anyone know who is guilty?

BloodPool

"And we would've got away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids!"

Scotcheggs

Are they Jewish owned? Our beloved Cadbury has also become a low quality diabolical company run by vile parasites.

RedHawk

Nestle aids the Zionist occupation of Palestine and is on the boycott list by the BDS. So its a shady company.

Scotcheggs

Yep cadbury is the same way now. The parasites are in control now and think they can call all the shots. They're gearing themselves back to Hitler times as they are filling every dire consequence he mentioned pretty much stereotypically anymore.

LittleBobbyTables

I am in no way defending the company - it is pretty despicable to try and sue to bury this type of information from being publicized. Furthermore, if you watch the documentary "water wars" you get a clear idea of just how terrible companies like Nestle are. To them there is a profit to be made by stripping the world of resources and humans of their rights; since slavery has been banished from the U.S. and oversight/regulations are much more stringent in the U.S. and most westernized countries, it is not surprising that the companies have pushed their operations into 3rd world nations and impoverished areas to exploit the lack of oversight in order to essentially re-create slavery for profit.

The article linked to is now almost a decade old; it would be better to add within this thread some information and links on the current status of these situations. Furthermore (and this is why I opened with 'I am in no way defending the company') - don't think for a moment that it is limited to just Nestle...the extends to the other major chocolate industry players (Hershey, et. al.) and beyond the chocolate industry you have it occurring with companies that handle things like water (Nestle, Coca-Cola), coffee, etc... I mention this because it is a bit misguided to think you can grab pitchforks and boycott just Nestle products to combat this issue ... it goes much deeper than that and the solution lies in addressing all companies and components that drive these scenarios.
