This is why you should never have moderators on a free speech website.

bugmenot

You still need a way to remove spam and illegal content, which is hard to automate. But if a moderator's job was only to do that, at least it would be easy to spot those who abuse their power. Problem is that you still need an Admin to moderate moderators. Turtles all the way down or cronyism all the way up, I don't know any viable solution to this problem.

Hmm..would the report spam be enough to report illegal content to a small number of global mods? Like if something gets flagged 1000 times an hour... Then you know its serious

bugmenot

As the website grows, that would be a necessary feature, yes. But I still don't like the idea of having a small number of mods. Unless, maybe, if you apply the same flagging system to mods so the users can report them if they delete legal content. You still need an god-like admin though, and when you see how the current Voat admins don't give a shit about /u/she and other SJWs... it's worrisome.

Hmm..' I cant argue.with your.comment at all.. i agree with you 100% on this

lawofchaos

Yeah I came across this post earlier now I see it's been removed: https://voat.co/v/news/comments/462075

Removed for a completely fucking stupid reason too. I think I'm just about done with this website.

Drenki

The story is up and you can still post comments. What are you talking about?

wootnessmonsters

troll or something just broke for you. It's been on frontpage for me at least 7+ hours ( linky ).

bugmenot

I can't find it in search results either, but in this case it might be because it hasn't been indexed yet. (see my other comment for context)

Drenki

Search isn't a feature in Voat so far as I know. Every time I've used it, i get a message saying "search is disabled".

bugmenot

Thanks, submissions seem to move up and down quite fast here. It's already on /v/Conspiracy 's third page.

But the main reason why I didn't find it is that it doesn't appear in search results.

https://voat.co/search?q=California

And so on.

Drenki

Search has never worked on Voat since I've been here. Just like you can't follow or block a user it's functionality that doesn't exist yet.

bugmenot

Damn. I should have checked the search feature with different submissions and keywords. Er...

bugmenot

I just saw this on the front page (here on voat), then it was gone. WTF?
