My goto mainstream and somewhat left newspaper had an article about this. They neutrally analyzed the situation and hypothesized if it could have been a jewish or palestinian pr move, or just plain violence.

This is technically a headlock. He doesn't link his arms together, and squeeze. If he did she'd pass out in three to five seconds. Also, I don't know the context of this. What is this about?

gatordontplaythatsht

There's evil in every culture, in our efforts to bring awareness to this, let us never paint too broadly; an entire race for the deeds of some.

Calorie-Kin

As an Israeli, I can tell you I'm very appalled by this. This was in fact on mainstream news (here at least).

Some sources claimed it's a Palestinian boy who threw rocks, and was detained (and later released). Others focused on the soldier, and how he was repeatedly hit and attacked by the Palestinians when trying to do his job. Another source said it like in OP's title.

I don't think this was censored, I did however get a lesson in bias. Each source reports what they want, and it's your responsibility to look at the facts and interpret your own narrative.

Here's mine: soldier brutality, much like police brutality, is an issue that exists anywhere people wield power over others. What this soldier did was wrong, and his reaction was an overreaction to a felony. The child should not have thrown these rocks, just as much as this soldier shouldn't have detained him that hard.

From this point on, it's pure speculation.. But if I were to guess, the kid probably resisted arrest and acted out, which caused to soldier to use excessive force.

123_456

Dude... If you throw rocks at anyone in any developed country you will get arrested, and charged with assault. You can't just throw fucking rocks at people, and have no consequences. You can die if you get hit by a rock. I know there's a lot of antisemitism floating around on Voat.co, and I'm not going to be a part of it. Fuck it. The man was in his right to try and restrain that teenager. I don't think the force was excessive. Crying does not make it brutality.

Calorie-Kin

Eh, there was probably a better way detain the teenager without hurting him as much. I don't know.

SarMegahhikkitha

The premise of OP's post title and this comment are pretty funny, considering Ha'aretz is the one who broke the story. I even posted it to /v/OrthodoxJudaism , where people are as free to be anti-Judaic as they like.

Israel and Zionism represent not only the greatest threat to middle east peace, but are the most racist bunch of war-mongers there is

however, let's be very careful to not put all Jews in the same basket - there are many factions of Jewry and they most certainly do not agree with each other or with Zionism - while there is most certainly a Jewish-Zionist criminal cabal, many supremacist types conveniently overlook that fact

He showed alot of restraint not shooting the 10 people who jumped on him at the end.

If that happened in america, the cops clip would be empty.

Any backstory on why he was arresting, detaining (assaulting) or whatever it would be called that person? He sure seemed determined to take that specific person into custody.

123_456

Yeah, I guess he did show restraint. So, I'm not sure if this submission is trying to be anti-semitic. We don't know the full story.

I_like_paint

I like the way he left.

Israelis are savages. They have no humanity. They are like tumblrinas, incessantly looking for oppression to justify their own existence. Hipocrites of the highest order, violence is always the preferred method of conflict resolution, genocide the preferred tool, all the while playing the victim.

It may take a long time, but I think that 1 day, Israel will get what it deserves - mother fuxking sanctions for those human rights abusers.

Turbo_Sloth

Wow, way to generalize an entire country's population. If you went to Israel you'd know that most Israelis are secular and want peace. The ones in the settled areas tend to be militant right-wingers.

But you don't know that, because you'd rather spread the same misinformation you consume. Also, learn to spell, it'll make you look slightly less stupid.

pray_the_gay_away

Listen here you racist savage ape. This website is intended for humans. You need to crawl back to jungle where you belong, you devolved sub-human simian lowbrow neanderthal.

Turbo_Sloth

Thank you kindly for your gracious opinion! Of course, it must be ME that is the hateful bigot, ah yes. Thanks for clearing that up!

ShitArchon

How is that any different from Arabs?

Draco

What your opinion on this matter doesn't affect me too much, so don't worry I'm not bagging on you.

I just came here to say that at least I can get really anti-Islamic spewed at me and really anti-Israeli stuff at me. At least its fair in that regards.

Personally I think both sides need defined borders, the Israelis and the Gazans/Palestinians/What-Have-Yous, both need to be held accountable by world courts not just Israel, and both need to have totally re-elected governments.

Netan-whatever of Israel is an old war hawk that is stopping progress, and I hear the actual governing bodies besides Hamas on the other side of this argument kinda realize that Hamas is just fucking up shit, but can't do anything because they're armed militants.

Shits fucked and its gonna be hard to get better. They're all brown and descended from the same people with laughably similar ideologies, there are just small differences that have been made into molehills and started a race war.

tazmanian

Looks staged ...

wootnessmonsters

Shame that the citizen of Israel don't realize what they have become.

Turbo_Sloth

You do realize that the child was throwing rocks at the soldier in question, right? This situation was a clusterfuck, yes, and the soldier was way out of line, but how can you omit that this was not an unprovoked attack on an innocent child.

Also, He did not detain him. He backed off after the situation escalates.

God, do you people even make an attempt to see the whole picture?

TheTrigger

Poetic irony at its finest.

The Jewish religion doesn't care about gentiles

Turbo_Sloth

And people who generalize an entire race of people based on the actions of one person are fucking idiots.

sp00kygh0st

Read the Talmud. Its in black in white. Literally

Turbo_Sloth

All books are literally in black and white.

Yes, an ancient text says Jews are superior. Only Orthodox Jews interpret it literally. Christians believe they are superior... see "Original sin". Atheists (of which I am one) also tend to believe they're superior for not needing a God. Every established religion has some form of this except perhaps Buddhism

sp00kygh0st

Hahaha you're a blatant Israel shill

Turbo_Sloth

Or someone with a different opinion from the majority. Calling everyone who disagrees with you a shill is something an SJW would do. You should be better than that.

sp00kygh0st

Your comment history is very obvious. How much is the JIDF paying you?

Turbo_Sloth

So is yours. How much is the KKK paying you?

sp00kygh0st

Lets do a quick comparison. Who owns the federal reserve? Jews or KKK? Who owns 90% of the media? Jews or KKK? Who is responsible for social sciences in academia? Jews or KKK? Who has their own nationalist country that accepts billions from the United States? Jews or KKK? Who has their own Internet Defense Foundation? Jews or KKK?

I could go on forever. I think it's pretty clear who's in charge here you kike

Calorie-Kin

You're putting Jews and Israelis in the same category. Not all Jews are Israelis, and not all Israelis are Jews.

Reddiggoat

not all Israelis are Jews.

Really? I thought that was the whole idea of a nation-state with an official religion. (And why the conditions in the above video are allowed to happen.)

Calorie-Kin

But Israel doesn't have an official religion. It has a majority religion, but anyone's free to believe what they want.

When I was in uni, I lived with two Arabs and a Russian. One was a Muslim, one was a Christian, and the other was an atheist (I think?).

Reddiggoat

Israel is the only modern state officially embracing Judaism as its official religion, yet it has a republican form of government. It also "recognizes" 4 others but it seems like Judaism is the official state religion. I have nothing against Judaism, but tying any faith to a government allows for atrocities like this to happen in god's name.

Calorie-Kin

It's actually a hot issue in Israel right now.

From the same article: "Israel is defined in several of its laws as a "Jewish and democratic state". However, the term "Jewish" is a polyseme that can describe the Jewish people as both an ethnic or a religious group. The debate about the meaning of the term "Jewish" and its legal and social applications is one of the most profound issues with which Israeli society deals."

If you look up Israel's official religion, you'll find that it legally doesn't have one.

It's really fucked up. Because in one hand, there's freedom of and from religion, there are laws in place that will not allow religion to censor media, laws that forbid discrimination... But at the same time, there are laws that forbid raising pigs on Israeli land, and laws that limit a store's activity on the sabbath (or risk a fine).

Very hot issue, like gay rights used to be in the states.

Reddiggoat

Well I really hope things go in favor of separation. Love or hate Israel, they're going to be they key to stability in the region for many more years to come and I would love to see them become more of the nation we need them to be.

Calorie-Kin

Amen.

As an atheist, I find it insulting that I can't get married in my own country. Citizen enough to serve, pay taxes, vote.. But apparently not enough to get married. This is because there isn't a complete separation of church (and without an official religion, doesn't really matter what church) and state. You have to belong to one of the few religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Druzeism and the Bahá'í Faith) Israel recognizes to get married. Which is total BS.

Reddiggoat

Israeli internet defense or whatever those groups are called don't help either. If a non Israeli like me were to criticize this policy I'd just get labeled anti-Israel and my comments would be buried. IMO Israel doesn't have time to wait for civil rights to progress naturally like in other countries, your government needs the world spotlight on it and some more pressure asap (while ignoring border politics if that's even possible).

That said, the only helpful thing I can think of for you is to find the most moderate religious leader you can to get married. One of my old pastors told me he straight up didn't believe in God or Jesus and that the metaphors in the scriptures were why he was a religious leader. Maybe there's a branch of one of the five who are moderate enough? (Still really shitty that you have to resort to this 'tho.)

Calorie-Kin

I'd rather not, I would assume there's some punishment involved for fraud or whatever, and maybe it's probably hard to convert to Christianity in Israel (haven't really looked into that). What most people do is travel abroad, get married there and come back with a marriage certificate. The state recognizes previous marriages, so that's what everyone is doing right now.

As for being called anti-Israel, don't worry about it. I get called an Israeli shill, a member of the JIDF, and pretty much anything else (though, surprisingly not so much on Voat!). I just stopped paying attention. If you make enough good points and back them with evidence, I don't see a reason why most people would downvote you. Evidence being not your own interpretation, but either a rephrasing or (preferably) a direct quote from a reliable source. I try to be critical of everything, regardless of my personal beliefs. If I find a news story that confirms what I believe, I would still check it out to make sure it's not biased, as should everyone.

Speaking as an insider, I think there's enough pressure already. The parliament (the body of government that makes the rules) is very divided at 61% to 59%, this limits a lot of rules from being passed (left or right oriented). The government is almost at a halt right now. Some are expecting new elections next year or so. It's pretty clear from these numbers that there is a huge percentage of Israelis who want change and are not happy with the previous and current government (59%), hopefully next election the opposition would get enough votes to get elected.

Reddiggoat

I really really hope they do! Not to brag too much, but religious separation is pretty excellent. My brother had an atheist wedding last week and there was a Game of Thrones reference in their vows :)

RedHawk

Well there is no such thing as an "Israeli citizen" , they are all required to "serve" as militants in the terrorist IDF.
