At the end of the day, how things go depends upon how the people in the forum allow things to go. Additionally, Reddit is owned by a corporation. I don't think Voat is. All this is to say that there is a LOT more flexibility here than on Reddit, and it would seem a bit incorrect for you or anyone to make the analogy which you did, as things don't necessarily need to go that way.
