What would be the motive for ANYONE? It seems far more likely that this plane was taken intentionally and did not randomly crash in some accident. With that in mind the perpetrator is less important than the motive. Someone did it, and they had to have a pretty good reason.

The key to this whole thing is the second Malaysian 777 that was shot down and pinned on Russia (well, they tried). With this in mind, suppose it was a symbolic shot at Russia in response? To say that "we know you got our plane." It also suggests that, as many speculated in the beginning, there was something or someone on this plane that was exceptionally valuable.
