Just want to add my voice to the "no shit" crowd. At least on this forum they can get a hearing, but the mainstream media is very good at what they do -- sadly. I think they'll do completely fine for the vast majority of people, until true AI comes along in twenty to thirty years.

No shit. Once I was taught that the purpose of the media was "to educate and inform." Our modern media, however, are little more than sensationalist ratings whores and propaganda shills for any reporting beyond strictly local news. I cannot fathom true investigative reporting in the style of Woodward and Bernstein in the present era. The corporate media overlords wouldn't accept the liability (or tarnish) and the dullard sheeple would flip the channel to see who the Kardashians were screwing.
