I say who could be better than a cynic to investigate the shooting. If people are concerned that mass shootings are staged, then if someone who is sympathetic to that concern were to give a it a fair investigation and report that it really was just a lone madman that would go a long way toward assuaging the so called conspiracy theorists. If such a person is prevented from investigating the shooting, even when it is clearly his job according to his position and jurisdiction then it can only serve to affirm the concerns of conspiracy theorists.
