It's probably worth noting, that propaganda is far less helpful when you control all broadcasted info for the populous. The US has the internet for the moment, so naturally they'd be working overtime at the propaganda machine, trying to keep their chickens all in a row.

America has far more propaganda that North Korea.

I agree with this 100%. The fact that the US Military can't be criticized in video games or film is a big bugbear with me. It's like the government doesn't want to know that the US Military killed whole villages of people in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

"As much?" With our spending power, we are not to be out done.

We're significantly larger in population and geography but do not fear, Comrade, we will exceed them soon enough! Glorious Ingsoc will prevail!

Um, the US have a propaganda machine that has global reach, and a vast majority of it is framed so as to be believable. It's so good at its job that a lot of people believe propaganda is only something that tinpot shitheads like the Kim dynasty deal in.

Juxtaposition that with the average calibre North Korean claim like Kim Jong-il's 50 under par golf round (on his first attempt, no less) or being born under a rainbow on Mount Paektu. Anyone can see this is bullshit. Even the people that it's aimed at. With ours, it's just not that easy to separate the truth from its bodyguard of lies.
