CredAndBercuses

Although I detect a rhetorical question - no. They won't have a way of notifying you.

CredAndBercuses

Bread and Circuses.

CredAndBercuses

Yeah, the more you look at it with an open mind, the more you see how you're the product.

CredAndBercuses

That's good - means even the dumbest that fall for advertising are moving on. One day Facebook will go the way of Myspace, and I can't wait.

the-cats-nipples

Have any of the alternatives built any traction? What are they again? Does a web search Oh yeah, I should really sign up Diaspora.

klongtoey

just stop fucking using facebook. every person that leaves helps others leave, those who stay are just enablers.

CredAndBercuses

This realization is what made me pull the trigger. But I did the very laborious "digital pollution" route of deleting absolutely everything and all friends first, then adding random fucks and selecting random interests, etc.

More work, yeah, but I think it was worth it. It's at least a layer of obscurity on top of all my old relevant data.

ximian

facebook is forced to act as if they care about user privacy.

AreWeHuman

Lol oki.

Lagmonster

Never used. What now?

deathcomesilent

It's certainly harder to quit a 'drug' than to simply never use it. Smart move.

Spear1000

Zuckerberg is so kind to us as he fucks us in the ass. Lets just forget about his conversation with Merkel that was overheard where he said he would censor anything people say that diagrees with the syrian migrants influx. He said he was "working on it". Nice man, re-prove yourself as someone who stands up for human rights or go fuck yourself.

Lagmonster

Except that Harvard retard has all of your secrets on file. I dare you to quit!

Lagmonster

No they won't. Lies, all Lies! Unless this message goes out to every and all accounts.

Ouroboros

I'd like to see a source on that.

Kaizervonmaanen

Well it's not the users who are paying them money. Facebook is a business, not a charity. They have no real incentive to actually protect the privacy of their users, but they DO have a incentive to make it look like they do.

OrangeKraken

No sane person uses facebook at this point, those that do deserve to suffer for their poor choices.

Kaizervonmaanen

Obviously mostly a PR move, they gladly give away any information to governments that ask. At least western governments, we know this due to the access NSA has that Snowden exposed.

It does not mean much and no reason to think they mean it or are genuinely interested in our privacy.

6double5321

Sure thing, buddy. Like facebook.gov isn't facebook.gov.
