Hurricanes are different. AFAIK, they blow out from the eye, tornados suck inwards.

I'm iffy on this one. A huge hurricane of this size should have at least caused massive devastation right as it hit landfall, then massively downshifted as it went over the desert and got the life sucked out of it.

There are so many potential knows, unknowns, and unknown-unknowns to account for that it's hard to judge.

Could it have been an attempt to hit California with the rain it needs? Build a strong, yet not robust hurricane with a FUCKLOAD of moisture and send it up the west coast.

I always thought hurricanes hit the east due to the prevailing currents and winds.

Or the governments did not report deaths from a catastrophe because... it would undermine their authority if people died from hurricanes?
