The government has spent shitloads of money promoting Facebook as a way to spy on everyone. They're probably not hip to any kind of competition.

Yes, reddit is manipulated at an administrative level. I also think they have to use some kind of AI, otherwise I can't explain the stuff I'm experiencing there. Some alt accounts got banned in what seemed to be only 1 second after commenting. So clearly no one saw those comments.

I imagine on the lowest level it could be some reddit loyalists fanboying. Or perhaps shills paid by reddit to denounce any site that poses a threat.

On the higher level it could be any number of corporate or government interests defending the site that gives them so much easy access to info and ability to directly manipulate public opinion.
