Hrm... actually. They are Federal prisoners which means they broke Federal crimes which should mean their crimes were felonies. Convicted felons can't vote.

Haven't read up on whether their records are getting purged or not.

Haha, yeah, I'm cynical like that, too.

But if you read the article, between 25-33% are getting deported. Total number getting out is only 6k. That's not really going to swing a national election.

As long as they are non-violent offenders, it's not something that rustles my jimmies.

I rather welcome it as I think it's stupid to spend so much money to keep people locked up for what are, in the grand scheme of things, their personal decisions.
