It depends state to state. It's still technically "illegal" in most of Europe but the cops don't give a shit.

I had cops stop me and tell me to go smoke my joint somewhere hidden so I don't bother other people.

Meanwhile I travel across Europe with a bag of weed, and not only I don't get searched, nobody even wants to see my ID or passport. You just enter the train/bus/plane/car in one country and leave in another, like if you took a trip to a local market.
