The surveillance state fails to protect us from crime. Is there any hard evidence of these capabilities? Were the Snowden revelations just a forgery to create an environment of self censorship? ( conspiracy )

I mean, it would be much less expensive to just fabricate all these documents and create a panopticon environment of self censorship than to spend the hundreds of billions dollars researching and maintaining all these incredible surveillance systems.

Why actually monitor people when simply telling them theyre being monitored produces the same result?

Why are people only ever prosecuted for "hate speech" and such when their name is attached to the message?

Why does the extensive surveillance not actually stop crime or terrorism?

Why is Snowden paraded around in the media constantly when real whistleblowers like William Binney and Thomas Drake were ignored?

Where are the images of the actual physical wiretaps?

I've been thinking myself that there's something fishy about snowden. If they didn't want him to leak he would have been dead a long time ago. Instead he has become a public figure like polititians and actors. He is twittering and giving interviews and always sounds very articulate and well prepared. Has a beautiful girlfriend - but hey - i guess being a crypto nerd has its advantages.
