Well, as we know from reddit simply downvoting bad content and upvoting good content isn't good enough. You have to speak up about what you dislike and then you'll be more likely to convince others that this kind of content is unhealthy for the growth of the community.

I agree, it was a cheap joke. But I assumed those of us using voat/conspiracy are well aware of the ridiculous weather balloon cover story that was offloaded on the Roswell/Corona Case in 1947. I love Conspiracy's but that doesn't mean I've lost my crude sense of humor or have forgotten how to make fun of myself every once in a while.
