Rovers are probably on Mars but I do believe that NASA heavily edits the photos to the point of hiding interesting anomalies. Luckily they don't catch everything and you can go through the archives with a fine cone and still not find everything of interest.

I'd like to name drop two YouTube channels that do a lot of work on the subject, MARS Anomalies and WhatsUpInTheSky37 . Solid research work

It's valid to question, but I really think this article is quite struggling. It might even be baiting people. There are tons of images from NASA from the various Mars rovers and they look pretty damn impressive. I don't feel like searching for them again right now, but I've browsed their high res images and if it is fake, that's a lot of nice CGI work.

The article didn't say it was CGI. The pic with the lemming is from nasa's website. Looks like they are busted on this one. I'm sure they'll explain it away as something else.
