Seems like the IMF is controlled by America.

pray_the_gay_away

About 40% by SDR composition.

Did they actually forgive a loan? That's not what I read in the article. The IMF is basically saying, we loan out money now as long as you are a US ally.

The Western Currency alliance of global bankers who control the IMF are using their financial hegemony as a weapon against Russia in a sense. Ever since the USD:Hryvnia peg collapse during the revolution, Ukraine has been a free-for-all scramble for power between the US, EU, and Russia.

Over the years, Ukraine has acquired a lot of debt. The various corrupt party regimes have stolen most of it. Most of the debt is owed to the IMF currency alliance, but a significant amount is owed to Russia. The IMF has control over Kiev threatening russia's pipeline infrastructure and energy dominance over Easter Europe: http://sputniknews.com/infographics/20090609/155206402.html

Today the Western currency alliance essentially told Russia bitch, you ain't owed shit as they spearhead the restructuring of the "official" government of Ukraine and its military.

It's quite a provocative move.

This is the source article from a zerheadge post: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-09/imf-just-entered-cold-war-forgives-ukraines-debt-russia

I read

For over half a year there was a semi-public discussion with U.S. Treasury advisors and Cold Warriors about how to stiff Russia on the $3 billion owed by Ukraine to Russia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. There was some talk of declaring this an “odious debt,” but it was decided that this ploy might backfire against U.S. supported dictatorships.

In the end, the IMF simply lent Ukraine the money.

as "We thought about not paying Russia, but in the end we decided to lend Ukraine the money to pay Russia anyway."

Yes but what is money? It's just paper. The SDR is an alliance of central bankers with control over the most of the global financial system via the SWIFT ledger protocol.

This is a currency war. The USD global oil peg is deteriorating and it's becoming a global scramble for currency dominance over fracturing geopolitical oil markets.

I dont think it would be that great to have Ukraine pay 3 Billion to Russia just like that. It would royally screw them over or put them further in debt, possibly to other european nations.

Russia knew what they were in for when they sent troops into sovereign ukrainian territory. You dont proxy-invade a neighbor and then expect them to keep all their promises. War is war and peace is peace. You cant have war on the field and peace between governments.

edit : why do people even bother to downvote comments that start with "I think"? If you disagree you can comment, and if not you can move on.

If Ukrainians want heat for the winter, they better pay up.

CarlosShyamalan

Thats obviously the tradeoff. Both parties know fullwell that they are at war. Lawsuits and petty fights are pathetic attempts at downplaying the war.
