I love this. This is what I live for. I wish we could hang out.

Donttazemebro

So what makes you so special? What have you done to give you the right to live on this planet?

ElspethTirel

I don't need to do anything. You're the scum who deserves to be in the ground.

Donttazemebro

I disagree. I probably did more good to society in my time in service than you'll do in your whole life. Also, just to piss you off even more. I get free healthcare and the only degree I'll have to pay for is my doctorate in a few years. I know the facts cause I got them from the source. Not some bs tin hat news blog. The government does shady shit, and sometimes shrouds their shadiness in good objectives. That happens and the military was the tool used. But I also bet you believe that the military would attack citizens on our soil if told to do so, even though no true soldier would do so. You have a very skewed idea of what the military is that you can't see they're all just human beings in it for their own purposes. Not to support the government.

Donttazemebro

You live in a sad sad world, all inside your head.

klongtoey

this video is fucking amazing. hope rand uses this for 2016.

also, imagine pre-emptive drone strikes on washington from countries the US is likely to attack. if it works one way, it should work the other way.

Donttazemebro

Which is why I also believe we should leave and mind our own business.

Donttazemebro

He probably was. But we also don't house terrorist organizations that attack all innocent people all around the world. So we don't require a military presence to train our forces, rebuild our government, control a vital resource, and protect villages from terrorist.

ElspethTirel

But we also don't house terrorist organizations that attack all innocent people all around the world.

Yes, you fucking do. They are called United States military bases.

Donttazemebro

Turn off the news buddy. I think you've watched to much TV. Made your mind mush.

ElspethTirel

Sounds like you're a tool who wants to deny facts.

Gravspeed

Dude that is f****** amazing

DukeofAnarchy

Hitlery accuses Trump of recruiting Muslims into ISIS just by making offensive comments. It's completely acceptable and moderate to believe that hearing offensive remarks turns people into terrorists. But the suggestion that having their friends or family members blown to pieces could possibly motivate people to fight back, is outside the limits of permissible opinion.

Donttazemebro

Holy shit, did not see Ron Paul's name coming up at the end of this. Anyway.

From a perspective of having been stationed in foreign counties in a non combat role: We patrol the areas around the bases, in police cars. Not uparmored 1059s. The places were we are doing patrols in combat vehicles and combat roles are in third world countries where the government is weak or almost non existent. Now I'm not sure if this is trying to say we pull out of combat roles or close down all overseas bases(Italy, Japan, Germany, Korea, etc.) So this is a bit more dramatic than reality. Our non combat bases in other countries are typically welcomed. It dramatically improves the economy in that area. When the base is closed, it's a ghost town. I patrolled abandoned bases in Heidelberg and Mannheim. The areas just deteriorate. Eventually they may come back to life when Germans take over those bases and do whatever they want with them.

I ran into few people that didn't like us being there. In fact we employed a lot of local Germans. However, while I was there I tried imagining what it'd be like to have foreign army bases in my city. While it may improve the local economy in some ways, I'd hate it. Most of these people in other countries grew up with it and have no idea what it's like not having us there. Kaiserslautern/Ramstein, for example, is the largest community of American's outside of the US. It's been like that for years. If we left, that's 80,000 people just gone from that area and the locals would be left with businesses that were solely there to support us. Now try to build a new base in an area of Germany, and you'll get upset people. Just like it'd be here. The military is downsizing all over seas areas already. We can't just pack up and leave overnight. There is a lot of work and it'll take a lot of time or else they'd end up hating us even more. I support the idea of bring ALL troops home for the reason of simply staying out of everyone's business.

If another country built a base here, it'd be for the purpose to attack Mexico or Canada. Or if they are in the process of taking over our country. Otherwise there is no reason for them to be here.

This may mean we need partner bases with the ally countries. We use some of those bases to transport, deploy, and hospitalize soldiers quickly. If they weren't there we'd have to fly back to the states and wouldn't be efficient. So if those countries could come to an agreement to allow us to use their bases during times of war, then we can bring everyone home. Even then, we wont' have everyone home because some liaisons or support units will still need to be on host country bases. I'm loosing interest and track of what I'm saying so the end.

TLDR; this video is a bit dramatic. Not all oversea bases are combat oriented. They are support units, hospitals, and fast response units(easier to deploy a unit from Germany than from stateside). We need to bring every soldier home and mind our own business, but it has to be done in an organized manner or else a lot of people with be in bad situations.

elgindelta

thanks for your service dude. [serious]

Donttazemebro

Thanks, but I honestly didn't do anything special. No combat or anything crazy. Appreciate your support for our military though.

elgindelta

all say long bro, yall dont hear it enough in my opinion.
