i find myself reminding people that those of us who enjoying discussing conspiracies don't automatically believe them. we just enjoying discussing these topics.

i end up referring to many topics as "alternate theories" to stop idiots making idiotic faces when they hear the c word.

sec

Can you elaborate further on GLP?

I have always had a strange feeling about that place...

frankenham

You know that thought has crossed my mind.. that NASA is almost essentially a front to get billions more dollars to fund wars and whatever other crazy shit the gov does behind closed doors.

Every single freakin announcement by NASA is "Hey we've got a ground breaking announcement to make next month" .. "Yep we found an earth-like planet 5 trillion light years away.. see it's this little pixel right there.. okay thx for the $6 trillion"

pauly_pants

All of that stuff dominated conspiracy theories until Edward Snowden confirmed the more realistic ones.

pitenius

Thank you.

pitenius

I've tried to keep some of these topics in rotation, OP. I'm not sure if they're all "conspiracy" though. (Right now, the term seems to be defined by Ventura and Jones, who are pretty political.) My father was an early player in "Aquatic Ape Theory" -- I think he felt it was "science".

Skimming the comments, I'm amused to see Tavistock mentioned. Heh. I'd be more worried about the Frankfort School, but I suppose you can't trust me.

Konran

Yeah, I agree with /u/ElspethTirel - good post. Some really interesting links there. Have an upvote from me too.

unixfreak

Could try here; http://forum.davidicke.com/ i read through it from time to time, vast range of topics like the ones your mentioned and the forum seems to be active at all hours. Maybe just have a read of some threads for ideas to share on voat.

Most other places, forums and boards alike, tend to be flooded with political debates and "gun" arguments over the past few years, whilst less of the topics you mentioned.

iamrage

At least I'm not the only one that's noticed this. Sooo many subverses have fallen victim to politics.. even places where it doesn't belong in at all. I think majority of the people on Voat lean too heavily on one side, which is rather unfortunate.

That said, I'm really (crazily) into ooparts . I don't know what it is about the subject, but I've read and watched everything I could possibly get my hands on.

jervybingly

I looked at your link for OOPARTS (Out Of Place ARTifacts) because I had never heard that acronym, but am somewhat familiar with the subject. It reminded me of something I saw on a visit to Angkor Wat. It is in a constant state of restoration so this prank would have been easily unnoticed in the act. Some skilled joker had replaced a long-lost tile, about 15cm square, with a well-done depiction of a dinosaur. We got a great laugh out of it and one local man even offered to explain it to us, for a fee.

iamrage

Haha I know what you're talking about . I've seen this used a lot on conspiracy shows on the History Channel, which is hilarious.

jervybingly

It's interesting that most crop circles appear within a ninty-minute drive from Oxford or Cambridge and most manifest themselves on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Please, I like conspiracy too, but that dead horse has been beaten into dust.

SarMegahhikkitha

You can't post anything supernatural here without it being downvoted to invisibility by fedoras. They don't care that other people might be interested even if they're not.

jervybingly

MK Ultra is described in declassified government docs. There is no question that it existed. The important question is: does it still exist?

smokratez

I still post content about those subjects from time to time.

Here's a youtube channel that covers reptilians, illuminati and satanic jezuits. Which is kind of the same as the illiminati, but he breaks it down in different parts.

Here's one about satanism and illuminati.

They're all very CGI-ish.. I watched a video of a man who 'debunks' the old globe picture on iphones by showing they lazily copy and pasted identical cloud formations in different locations. Just google 'earth from space' and you'll see none of the images are actually real, just look at this:

http://media.npr.org/assets/img/2015/02/03/globe_west_2048_sq-3c11e252772de81daba7366935eb7bd4512036b8-s900-c85.jpg

http://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/images/content/73113main_AC75_0027earth.jpg

These are CGI image without a single doubt. It's just.. why? If we spend so much money into NASA and space exploration why are they using computerized images to pass off as pictures of earth? Has earth changed? Why do old pictures look so dramatically different? very confusing..

3621017?

I can share some of my crazy, if people are interested. I've been knee-deep in hardcore 'crazy' [Stuff that is tabboo to mainstream sheeple] research. Just would prefer to be able to downvoat first.

ElspethTirel

IDK why you got downvoted, this is a great post.

FacelessOne

Winter is coming!

Really tho there are many movies/stories/books based on realities that have completely different versions of reality that could exist.

But who cares about how the universe works, when Daenerys Targaryen marries Donald Trump they will bath the muslim and mexican immigrants with their dragonfire.

frankenham

Man I don't care how much hate they gets I enjoy flat earth videos. I don't exactly buy into them but there are many legitimate claims being made that make me think. The concept of a flat earth just really interests me I think mostly because it appeals to our senses and with what reality appears to be, whether or not it's actually true. I mean if you climb a mountain overlooking a desert it looks flat as far as your eyes can see, as if earth's a flat plane that extends seemingly forever.. or how the sun and moon though said to be vastly different in size and distance from the earth both appear to be identical in size in the sky as if just two giant spotlights lighting day and night.

macredsmile

Flat earth is disinformation to make alternative media look bad. The only way t h email earth is flat us if the universe is flat. Example : hologram.

frankenham

Maybe, but maybe not. There have been tests done with lasers that according to the ball earth theory wouldn't be visible over certain distances due to the curvature of the earth but still are visible. I can't say for sure but I think the flat earther's imply it's designed that way because it was the result of intentional creation.. I don't know what to make of it all but I do find the experiments and theory's really interesting.

ElspethTirel

I like the idea that the Earth is a dimensional plane, but I don't know if I read it somewhere or made it up myself.

frankenham

As far as I'm aware that's basically what flat earther's claim, that earth is more like minecraft than a ball planet. They claim the Antarctic Treaty was created by the world governments to prevent people traveling past it.

ElspethTirel

Have you heard the hollow earth theory that planets are actually star incubators? It's pretty trippy.

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/tierra_hueca/esp_tierra_hueca_8i.htm

frankenham

I've heard of hollow earth theories but I just can't get into them. Not very convincing to me atleast imo.

ElspethTirel

Hardly any of those fringe topics get brand new information on the regular like political conspiracies do.

PIcasso54

It's because right now Voat is in a very cold hardened political phase with the upcoming election. Expect the return of such ideas after the elections-- then people get back to being bored and thinking about these things.

What do you thunk about aliens?

Amadameus

Stumbled upon a book about crop circles when I browsed the local bookstore. It was strangely compelling, they were talking about complex patterns they'd see in how the plants had been knocked down and there wasn't really a good answer for it.

Do I believe in aliens? Not sure. In either case I don't expect they'll affect my everyday life any time soon.

Regardless, I think the most likely candidate is that we're being watched and assessed. Keeping tabs on our growth and progress - something tells me our current handling of global warming gets a poor grade.

PIcasso54

No I meant illegal Mexicans. /s

Just kidding-- I don't know enough about aliens to make an educated opinion.
