well, since I'm not a robot I'm not taking a "side" because there isn't such a thing. my initial comment was in response to a bunch of people trying to make out like the display of this symbol graph wasn't an intentional act.

Well, from the looks of it, barely anyone has seemed to care about it showing up.

Hate to spoil the fun, but before these symbols were shown on screen, Jim Deshaies told a story in which he played for the Astros and they had an 11-game losing streak at Jack Murphy Stadium, home to the San Diego Padres, despite being the better team. Deshaies was fed up with losing to the Padres, and felt it was time to reverse the curse. He bought a book that dealt with witchcraft and a small part of this book discusses how to "weaken enemies in their home," this home being Jack Murphy Stadium. The method was to burn twigs inside the home from three different trees, and recite a four lined poem. Deshaies, with the help of two teammates, conducted the spell, which may or may not have led to an Astros victory that day. It also helped that hall of fame pitcher Nolan Ryan was on the mound that day. After Deshaies told the story, the symbols appeared for comic relief. Deshaies denounced witchcraft, denying he continues to dabble in occult rituals, and you can hear him say, "I have no idea what that means," when the board of images appears. WGN isn't trying to brainwash anyone with symbolism, or pay respects to the illuminati; the symbols were used to make light of a great baseball story of how the pennant-chasing 'Stros of 1988 were desperate to end a losing streak. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/28/the-time-the-1980s-astros-used-the-occult-to-stop-a-losing-streak/

so this was a production inside joke - great post. Again, the people below assuming this was somehow not intended are retarded.

Empire_of_the_mind

Ignore the disphit morons in this thread - this is a great clip!

Danoded

Exactly!

Yeah, because having occult symbols flashed up during a baseball game is clearly an accident, and why would someone play a prank like this?

FuBubba

Yeah, there are so many different symbols that mean so many different things. To lump them all together is just someone not knowing what most of them mean.
