I have no idea what to think about this, though I do have a new theory.

What if people who were kidnapped and abused by "high ranking" people, what if part of their mind control was implanting the "crazy ideas" about lizard people and so forth? Or, well, ANY conspiracies. "They" could write their own stories, and manipulate these individuals into believing that reality...and the shared stories, over time, it feels like truth.
