I roughed out a draft of this idea earlier, but didn't post it. What I sense now is a lot of "controlled opposition". I think media/industry/finance/military dinosaurs are going to be increasingly okay with a revolt soon. First, they'll allow marginal candidates (Trump, Rand, hell old Obama) to make a mess of the "tools of democracy". Then, the controlled dissent will propose some kind of oligarchic "reasonable solution", which will be a more accurate reflection of the extant power structure. I think in another 30 years, the Constitution will be open territory for another redraft.

I'm kinda hoping for a Carrington Event before that...
