As I have correctly assumed for many years; ingesting fluoride does nothing to help teeth - only topical use such as toothpaste. And it seems my suspicions that ingesting it could be harmful may prove correct.

" Health experts are calling for a moratorium on water fluoridation, claiming that the benefits of such schemes, as opposed to those of topical fluoride (directly applied to the teeth), are unproved.

Furthermore, critics cite studies claiming to have identified a number of possible negative associations of fluoridation, including bone cancer in boys, bladder cancer, hyperthyroidism, hip fractures and lower IQ in children. "

FLUORIDE: FOR TOPICAL USE ONLY. NOT TO BE TAKEN.

If fluoride truly does nothing for teeth, then there have been a number of falsified studies on the topic. (not that such a thing is hard to believe, considering the money to be made).

I tend to believe that fluoride is more or less harmless in toothpaste, unless you swallow the stuff. Water supplies though... thats bad news.

Aside from being toxic at high levels, there is enough fluoride in taro, and potatoes that you don't need to supplement water with more flouride.

From what I understand Fluoride was a byproduct of aluminum smelting. Alcoa wanted a way to get rid of this byproduct. They hired a marketing firm which simply created this myth that Fluoride was good for teeth.

Imagine all the dentists out there who still believe in fluoride.
