The lawyers in SoCal must be salivating at this point.

Especially in "The Valley".

There's 110,000 pounds of natural gas leaking out of an underground storage facility EVERY HOUR. This has been going on for several months now. It's not a joke. The gas company said the normal thing to do when a leak like this occurs is to pour a constant stream of water into the hole to stop the gas leaking out. Supposedly the gas pressure is so strong that this isn't working, and now they're trying to drill a secondary well to relieve some of the pressure before trying this again. The problem is that the well is more than 8000 feet underground, so getting the secondary well to it has been taking quite some time.

To put into perspective how much 110,000 lbs of gas per hour is, take a look at this infrared footage of the leak area... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/12/23/new-infrared-video-reveals-growing-environmental-disaster-in-la-gas-leak/

So, they want two holes releasing 55,000 lbs/hr.
