Realistically, the only way for a species to become spacefaring is by utilizing the full strength of all individuals- many forms of government try to accomplish this (ex: Communism, Capitalism) by assigning people into groups, with predefined attributes determining what members of that group are like (not based on the individual). Cogs in the machine so to speak.

However, we're humans. We get bored. We want freedom. We want to do things *our*, individual, way. But how can you appease everyone at once in such a manner? Technology. As it advances, many forms of labor become outdated. But because it advances so quickly, the people who fail to adapt get left behind. Darwinism of some kind perhaps? I don't know. I don't know anything, I just like to share my thoughts.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

I think, inevitably, the height of a society (ex: Rome, United States) will always be marked by hedonism. Pleasure for pleasures sake. You know, I was thinking today- love? That's a luxury. We live in an era where we can do that. We can choose the person we want to be with. Foster relationships however we please. Love is intrinsically hedonistic. Pleasure for pleasure's sake.

I can't wait to see what happens next.
