TL:DR?

Drenki

As someone who has sat in on more than a few conversations between biotech people in Boston, it's probably more of what they've been doing for a while.

They'll do research into an area, looking for treatment approaches to a disease, or in this case a vaccine. They'll find something that works for some but not others, depending on genetics. When it comes time to do an FDA trial, they will use phenotype indicators to disqualify potential participants so that the study will only work with the group they're left with.

If everything goes according to plan, the drug will pass and make it to market even though it is harmful or ineffective for most.

Thank you, that is terrifying to know.
