There were se conspiracies circulating this summer that Israel was testing dirty bombs, and that they were going to set them off in Chicago to shut down the derivatives market and blame it on terrorists backed by Iran.

Can't go spoiling a nuke deal that gives Iran fast access to nukes by showing what will happen to us once Iran gets nukes. That's not in the plan, friendo.

Iran hasn't attacked a country in over 200 years.

Why would they start now?

1) Iran has seen what happened to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc etc. Why would they ever risk provoking the United States, or worse, Israel, who wants them (and Arabs in general, and Africans, and basically anyone non-Israeli or Jew) wiped off the face of the Earth?

2) Similar to 1, the only reason Iran would start stockpiling weapons is because their entire country is being threatened in a similar way to other countries (named in 1) that the United States has destabilized and destroyed. If Iran attacks the United States or other countries as a means of self defense, what makes Israel any different?

Okay, I'm probably gonna eat a downvoat or 2, but I think you should realize that Iranian relations weren't always this way. Look up operation Ajax. The proto-CIA fucked up Iran royally. I think with a little bit of work diplomacy can come back to like it was in 1925, and social values of Iran could go back to like it was in the 1970s. The reason modern countries don't go to war anymore is because we all trade with each other. In the last couple days, Iran has even exceeded my expectations since they are doing prisoner swaps and even returned marines that were probably caught with their hands in the cookie jar. It's funny, because right now Iran is really doing a good job of integrating into the international community, but the rhetoric coming out of the far right in both countries makes it sound like everyone only wants the complete demolition of everyone else.

I realize well how badly USGOV fucked the Iranians when they deposed the shah. But regardless of how these hardliners rose to power - and USGOV is 99.5-100% responsible - to doubt that there are serious and populous elements of the grand council that support sabre-rattling and nuclear destruction of America is a grave mistake. The solution to the proliferation of the most destructive devices known to man isn't to let them proliferate even further.

We shall undo ourselves by the power of the atom wielded by madmen - whether the sociopaths in the USGOV or the ayatollahs push the button is of no difference to glass-enshrined skeletons.

Which is why I supported the easing of sanctions in Iran if that's what it took to stop progress on a nuke. North Korea won't even come to the table to talk on a deal like that. If they were to disarm and allow UN weapon inspections, I would support the easing of sanctions on them too.

Edit: I would also point out that war can be bad for trading partners. There has never been an escalation of nukes between 2 countries that traded a lot.

Fuck man, who gives a shit? Say what you want to say and wear the downvotes with pride.

I thought the U.S and U.N were doing everything to prevent them from getting nukes?
