No, same story. Genetically modifying anything can lead to unknown and undesirable results without proper long term study. Very long term, like a few decades at least before you unleash anything genetically modified into our environment.

Regarding those people who always equate selective breeding with "genetic modification", I like to point out that selective breeding does not introduce any exo-genomic material or information into the resulting offspring. That's the big difference.

this explains why all three have risen dramatically in south, central and north america (below the equater north america).

i dont know if anyone remembers, but the same gm mosquitos were released midway throught the year in florida. it was a government funded peogram non the less. there is speculation that the consiquences where previously known and were sought after to target a specific genetic group.

anyway, we will see how this develops. it wont be good as now they are resorting to fumigating all mosquitos; which is just causing more distruption in the ecological system.... le sigh

North America lies entirely North of the Equator.

youre right, stupid mistake courtesy of me. should be above the equator in south america

No worries

The gm mosquitos are engineered so that their offspring don't mature. Same is happening with these babies. It is entirely possible the virus picked up the genes involved and transmitted them to humans.

We see genes jump across species all the time.

I really hate the people who work on this kind of shit.

Whatever future species comes to dominate the earth will look at fossil evidence from this time and combined with the current ME immigrant crisis, will note that this was mankind's last trip out of Africa. They'll be no history from this time because everything is stored on the internet.

Maybe some will be lucky and get spared like what happened before the last ice age.
