The problem with open source is that they are also contributing. NSA contributes to projects all the time. NASA made of the best tools in the market right now (openstack), yet, most people don't actually read the source. When everyone raises the option, "well its open source, so it would be found" is not always true, take for example truecrypt, how long has it taken to actually do a decent audit the first time around? While not all projects are like this, don't just download a app because its "open source", I could easily trick hundreds of users with a app that says its open source and encypts XYZ and does x1000 things, but by the time someone realizes it, I would have a huge botnet.

I want to add to this. People also need to understand that just downloading the "open source" executable is not enough. You need to compile from source to truly make sure the executable you're running came from the open source code. (Unless the compilers are tapped, in that case we're doomed).

Awesome read. Thanks for the link.

One day it will! People are starting to see glimpses of freedom, let people learn how powerful they can be if united ;)

if UNITED.

That's the key. People have to figure that out. United - i.e. put all our petty, indoctrinated differences aside and behind us.

tl;dr No it won't.

It's already doing it. Why do you think the FED has had to pump so much "stimulus" into the markets?

It's already starting to change things for the better though.
