What if they just want to serve Man?

If you traveled to another planet on a spaceship or however you managed to do it, what purpose would it serve you to keep your existence a secret from everyone? You would be the biggest thing ever. The most popular alien ever. Bigger than any president or movie star. If you had super powers and technology you wouldn't need to be afraid of humans. So protecting yourself wouldn't be a problem. I mean if movie stars and presidents can protect themselves and they live here... an alien that has better technology clearly wouldn't have a problem protecting themselves. So what would the point be to keep themselves a secret? And why would you only be in contact with the government?
