Sneaky fucks. Another way to keep us from being self sufficient.

escapefromredditbay

if enforced under such wording, this bill would literally sterilize the animal farming industry

varialus

Literally literally?

escapefromredditbay

seeing as a critical part of some farming is, artificial insemination, yes. literally literally

varialus

Does the industry have literal reproductive organs with which it literally bears industry offspring? No, it does not. An industry is a non-corporeal concept and therefore cannot literally be sterilized.

escapefromredditbay

said industry is made up of animals. farm animals, putting it bluntly, sometimes need jacking off and artifical insemination to actually make new animals. if thats not happening, then theyve been effectivly sterilized.

how exactly, did you think fine breeding control was done?

varialus

You used the word literally incorrectly. It's a pet peeve of mine but it's not a big deal.

un1ty

not a big deal.

makes three posts being pedantic about it

You do realize that social media already 'broke' the word 'literally' to mean 'figuratively' depending on context?

varialus

Some words are easier to redefine through misuse than others. The word literal has a very clearly defined and important meaning that is not going to change from people misusing it. No one has broken the definition. It still means what it always has. But yes, it is often used incorrectly.

Edit: The number of replies do not indicate how big of a deal it is to me. I'm not upset at you for misusing the word. My initial post was lighthearted and you continue to discuss it, so so do I. Yes, I am being pedantic, because the word literal calls for pedantry.
