This isn't really a conspiracy and has been suspected for a while. BPH-A is a binder chemical used in plastic production and is heavily suspected to inhibit testosterone production in small children, which causes more expression of the effects of estrogen (in both sexes).

Its gotten such a following that BPH-A FREE products have their own marketing campaigns and are buzz words in baby products.

I have some proximity to a person who did materials testing for NASA, he was tasked to spend 3-4 weeks testing common plastics and how they leech chemicals under various conditions. The guy went away for a few weeks and when he returned he went through the whole office and disposed of all plastics he could find, he put signs up on the microwave to mandate that under no circumstances were ANY plastics to be used inside, he then cut out all the plastic he could from his life, went to glass for everything. Guy basically went nuts.

From what I understand, under normal temperatures the BPHA is stable inside the plastic and leaches at a very very slow rate, negligible even. But if the plastic is heated, even a little, the chemical separates and contaminates the contents rather heavily. They even suggested (can not confirm) that the "plastic taste" in water bottles that are left in a hot car or in the sun basically is the BPHA and other stuff leaching from the plastic.

He said that one of the primary places people get the stuff is from microwave food. Microwave meals in plastic containers and reusable "ziplock" containers that are then put in the microwave. He reiterated glass or ceramic ONLY in the microwave.

The guy also mentioned to me that the BPH-A Free items might not be any safer because they still need a binding chemical for the plastic and it likely leaks out of suspension when heated as well. While its not BPH-A it's probably not much better.

So while its well known that BPHA and other chemicals do leak out of plastics, it might not be completely understood in what solid impacts they have on health. Expect BPHA to be used less and less in the future but expect the alternatives to not be much safer. If you are really worried then don't use plastic. The chemist I know who actually had to study the chemicals has totally given up plastic all together.
