Where have you gone? This is blowing up with the podesta emails in 11/2016??!?!?!

OWNtheNWO

Why would someone down vote this? It's true.

OWNtheNWO

5 star site owner. This site is going places.

imtoophilosophical

God i love you Atko, lets make sweet sweet love

SEC-Shill

Excellent work! Thank you very much for the help. Sorry for breaking things.

OWNtheNWO

Apparently, it is different after all. You wouldn't get that kind of response on plebbit.

SEC-Shill

Absolutely not. I must admit I am a tad impressed.

Mumberthrax

I'm glad the mystery has been resolved!

edit: well at least the mystery of the missing post xD

toobaditworks

Same mods are here that are there. So expect the same. Although the site is smaller it already has the undesirable users and mods waiting in the shadows to discredit and manipulate the system. But Atko is a good sysop and will do what he can to help if need be.

I was following that story too and it seemed to me like they were onto something very dubious, if not out-right insidious. Very suspicious "day care", indeed, that led to bad phone numbers when called, strange deliveries of shipping containers, covered windows, etc. It certainly smelled of human trafficking - on the surface at least. I was hoping we'd get to the bottom of it or at least get social services/police to investigate, or whoever might be responsible for doing that sort of thing. Too bad it might be a banned topic here, too. What was the official justification for shutting that thread down to begin with; do you remember?

SEC-Shill

I got a copy of the day-cares tax records. Amazing what $60 can get you! They aren't showing any massive amounts of money going through there, at least for the two years I got records for. I wont bother to speculate on what they're actually doing though because the avenues I was pursuing were so far-removed from the day-care, that if anything nefarious is happening there, it's as a 3-rd party buyer from another company. It's this other company, it's proxy owner, and handful of employees that I've been most interested in.

As far as shutting down the thread here- I had no idea it was until I went looking for it earlier today so I have no idea why it's nuked. As far as the thread on the old site, we were never given much information why it was shutdown outside "the site admins told us mods we have to shut down this thread or they'll come in and shut down our corner of this site"

I'm hoping it is some weird bug. I'd really hate to believe I'm actually onto something hahaha!

partycrasher

If it actually is a human trafficking location - you aren't going to find anything on tax records; those will be clean. All of that activity will be done via cash money or bitcoin on the black market. :(

I think we need to give this site a chance and call it a bug for now, but be on the look out if it happens again.

SEC-Shill

It's not human trafficking- absolutely nothing I've found indicates that. That's not to say that it doesn't indicate other nefarious things afoot. Like I said though, if anything, they're just the buyer of some black-market goods. I'm looking higher up the supply chain. If evidence pans out, it's kinda laughable how the day-care led to its discovery.

I'd just like the comfort in knowing that when I do get around to posting my findings, it's not a futile effort. I really do hope it's just a bug.

Here's to hope.

Mumberthrax

I don't see anything in the public moderation log https://voat.co/v/conspiracy/modlog/deleted though that only goes back to the time when the log was implemented by atko, the administrator. This looks kind of like a bug to me, but it might actually have been something the moderators here removed before the public log was set up.

I would be disappointed if it was removed by the mods, but surprised if it happened again now that the log is available to hold mods accountable.

I hesitate to do this, but it might be appropriate to page @atko to see if this is a bug.

edit: just wanted to add that i viewed your profile, and was able to view what you had written in the self-post there by expanding it, but when clicking the link https://voat.co/v/Conspiracy/comments/41750 it turned up the same error page you linked above.

SEC-Shill

but it might be appropriate to page @atko to see if this is a bug.

Hopefully it is something as simple as a bug. How could I go about notifying them?

Mumberthrax

Well, we've technically both done that already now by typing his username in these comments with the @ symbol before it, which sends a notice just like when someone replies to a comment (It's like that reddit gold feature, applies to everyone though). All we can do is wait until he sees it, has some time to investigate, and lets us know what the deal is. He's a pretty busy guy, and doesn't have a ton of time for voat because of his school workload, but I am optimistic that he will check into it for you. If we don't hear anything, then either he never saw the notification (probably because other people pinged him a ton too) or perhaps because he doesn't feel it's important enough to comment on. ;_;

But I am optimistic!

SEC-Shill

Ahh very cool. Thanks for the help and I'll cross my fingers.

Mumberthrax

You're welcome. And you know, even if we don't hear anything, it's ok. Even if it turns out the mods censored the post, that's ok too. The most that we've lost is the comments on that post - but you could always re-post the content of it that is still visible on your profile. If it gets removed, then it will show up on the moderation log that we have now, and we can inquire about why it was taken down. If the mods offer no explanation, there are other subverses where it would be appropriate like /v/underreported , etc.

At the moment, I have a pending request for transfer of ownership of the sub to me over in /v/subverserequest , so if that goes through then I can assure you that I'll do what I can to make sure that moderation of posts is transparent, explaining when things are removed as to why, etc.

mukt

Adding /v/underreported to Alt where other alternatives for /v/conspiracy are also listed.

SEC-Shill

Well, good luck to ya. Once I have a follow-up to post, I probably will do it elsewhere. But that will all wait till I have all the research and FOIA requests take a long time to play out.

Alias_Unknown

That's interesting. Could it be because (like the original threads you mentioned) came too close to doxxing?

SEC-Shill

It could be, but if that's the case than my argument stands that this place is no better than that other site. Linking public-record documents available on-line with names and addresses is no different than linking news articles with names and addresses. It's a bizarre double-standard I still don't understand.
