axolotl_peyotl

I got my name back!

madmalloy

Hurrah!

madmalloy

It was one of the reasons I signed up as soon as I heard of this place.

Fucktards will be fucktards.

Flytape

I successfully claimed my reddit username FLYTAPE after a short discussion with atko.

If the reddit admins actually gave a shit about their members and communities then we wouldn't be flooded with destructive subs like conspiratard and SRD.

50centmynigga

I acted alone. I didn't act with any subreddit.

FriedBizkit

Right.

casualwhoaversereade

But, you certainly took action to spread the news so that others could. You did this to be destructive and you're shrugging it off like it's no big deal. You're an asshole. Why are you still even allowed to post here?

50centmynigga

no, others cant do it anymore without spending significant time. the site's been improved a lot, e.g now you need a certain score to post links or upvote / downvote. I've also offered the admin here to help with removing the posts.

directed_light

I found it odd that my username (directedlight) was used considering I haven't used the account in over 6 months. That says something to me about how the usernames were chosen. It was either completely random or somehow a list was pooled by targeting specific members of conspiracy, even the more obscure ones like myself.

realwilwheatonfan87

wilwheatonfan87 here, those from /r/conspiracy weren't the only ones to have their names taken but then I use to post in /r/conspiracy a lot with the last post being a year ago. May have had my name targeted in the first place by coincidence.

Amalgamated

Same here. My main reddit account, which I have used once in the last three months, had its name taken here as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a list at all.

One thing I noticed is that your name and mine (no relation to this handle) were both taken on 6/24/2014, within the last 24 hours, while everyone who posted on reddit in this thread about their name being taken had been posting frequently since whoaverse came online, and had their names taken at an earlier date (6/23 or before).

Ferrofluid_of_Reddit

mine was swiped in the very early hours of 6/23/14, so likely not by a US perp, more likely one of the European 'Five Eyes' r/conspirotard types.

directed_light

Yeah, the link was posted above. It just made me wonder how the bot was written to choose usernames. Was it running at random or was it fed a list of specifically targeted usernames? If it was the latter, then it makes me wonder even further about why my username would be targeted.

Ferrofluid_of_Reddit

or was it fed a list of specifically targeted usernames?

most likely it was, those r/conspiritard types are not random dudes who happened to suddenly become obsessive over r/conspiracy and its denizens, they were recruited and given a mission.

the biggest criminal faction in the US is the corrupt elements inside the US govt, those people have the most to lose from people discussing govt corruption, and its wider dissemination.

AssuredlyAThrowAway

So yea, atko; this is why I think we should have some type of system setup for users to reclaim their usernames if they so desire. Shoot me an email and I can help coordinate :)

realwilwheatonfan87

I support this idea. Someone, probably the guy who wrote the bot above, took my username too to squat on or using to upvote posts with.

Would love to have mine back and be able to contribute to Whoaverse.

whoremonger

Shouldn't people also be able to reclaim their subreddits?

casualwhoaversereade

I'd be happy with that. He grabbed my old reddit username but, it actually contains the word "reddit" in it. So, I don't want to use it here. But, I also don't want someone else pretending to be me.

alllie

One of the reasons for this is so they can vote up their own submissions to 100 and start down voting everything they want to suppress. They are furious at us, judging from Reddit comments, that they have to have 100 points to down vote.

Also, on Reddit, they pretend to be many different users and start messaging the mods about someone they want banned or some thing they want changed or suppressed. By pretending to be many users they make it look like a consensus. No doubt they are doing the same thing with Atko.

Edit: I have saved an image of this page here in case it's deleted or changed.

50centmynigga

I'm the guy who wrote the bot. You're wrong. I only did this because I had a free Sunday, and it was amusing. Plus with the new rules, you need 100 rep to upvote / downvote, so there's nothing more that any of those accounts can do (nor do I have any desire or time to do anything further)

Ramroc

You do realize you are directly interfering into other peoples pass times who may or may not want to register here, right? You're not just affecting us, but your fellow redditors who might want to make the switch to this site, but only for them to find out that some prick already registered their online handle for no reason.

Which is why I ask you kindly to please delete the accounts, and the bot you made.

realwilwheatonfan87

I think I'm one of them and I have not posted to /r/conspiracy in well over a year.

casualwhoaversereade

There you go admin. He admitted writing a bot to attack your server. Ban hammer time.

brightfuture

Who hurt you?

50centmynigga

the reptilians

ShillyMcShillerton

With the amount of hurt going on down there, I'd reckon you've also experienced an anal probing or two. Definitely two. You're very tender.

salvia_d

Then you should go after the reptilians.

PrivateJoker

Can't be too hard to just see the IP address of all of these accounts are the same and then just delete them all

brightfuture

It's also not that hard to use proxies. Perhaps only transparency will save us. It would bother me a little if other people were able to see my vote history, but it would bother bot armies and votegamers a lot more.
