Also just wanted to say - beyond oil and all that - seems like the war on terror was also a way for the government to make sure that the police forces would begin using military tech etc. and of course to keep the military-industrial complex well fed

Don't know if that was a part of some master plan, but it does seem convenient. I can only hope that the people behind these arms they are pumping into our streets, have human hearts that will break upon seeing country men die.
