The selection pressure of such an interaction would be towards an equilibrium between individual fitness and species fitness, e.g. full-scale broadcasting of thoughts would be bad for the individual but good for the species, but having some sort of "collective subconscious" to propagate feelings and associations below conscious threshold would be good for both species and individual. How do you explain how many people had premonitions of 9/11 before it happened , and a lot of these people have a history of correct premonitions (they tell others) with few to no false positives?
